AIP
has produced four multi-cultural arts festivals, four cabaret
festivals, a series of educative arts panel discussions (“Conversations
on the Arts”), master class/ workshops, “Share
Your Art” events and various networking programs
offered free to the public. In 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006
AIP produced a memorial tribute to 9-11, as requested by
the library, in which various art forms were utilized to
honor and celebrate our heroes and freedom.AIP
has developed partnerships with AMVETS and the Breast
Cancer Coalition as artistic judges of children’s
literary and visual work.
Through an invitation to business
merchants to partner with AIP, a temporary art gallery was
donated and set up in a vacant store on Park Avenue for 6
months in 2002, and visual exhibits and a book signing were
scheduled. Local establishments regularly highlight various
AIP members’ work on their walls.
Events for 2007 include an eleven-day
ArtsFest highlighting cultural arts activities in various
venues, beginning with AIP's Annual Cabaret Festival on
May 17th and ending with AIP's Twilight Festival & Concert
with Artist Booths on May 29th. A
readers’
theatre, an art auction, and a literary festival are looking
for sponsors with more partnering between business, schools,
and the city anticipated. A ”First Night Long Beach”
celebration for New Years Eve is in the talking stages, as
well as long-range plans for a permanent Arts Center.
