Barrier Beach Blues and Arts Festival June 24th-27th |
Wednesday, June 24th, 7-8:30 PM – Artists’ reception in the Long Beach Public Library 2nd floor Gallery. Featured Blues Photographer, Suzanne Foschino. Refreshments served.

8-8:45-Kim Kuperschmid and the Steel Horse Band: Long Beach’s own, Kim opens the Blues festival with a mix of traditional and modern day Blues/Rock classics.
9-10:00- Sweet Suzi and the Blues Experience: “known for her energetic and riveting live performances, Suzi's, sultry, yet powerful vocals are backed by a band of extremely soulful musicians. Named LI’s number one Blues Band.

3:30-4:45- Diane Hoffman: See and feel the music moving through you as Diane Hoffman and her musicians stir the audience to their feet. DIANE is a multi talented powerhouse ... a truly inspiring performer. Her singing is filled with direct and truthful emotion.
7-7:45- Pamela Betti: This evening of Blues kicks-off with the incredible Pamela Betti, winner of LI Blues Society’s Challenge to Memphis. Pamela and her Band are true professionals who really know how to “WOW” a crowd!
8-8:45- Gail Storm: Gail is a pianist/vocalist who specializes in classic blues/jazz. She draws from traditionally based performers such as Bessie Smith and Ella Fitzgerald and shines in the modern idiom. Don’t miss her!
9-10:00- Pat Hunter Project: Pat Hunter is here to show you what the Blues are all about! Hailed as one of LI’s and NYC’s top Blues Bands, Pat bring her dynamic vocals and pure emotional range to the Barrier Reach-the joint is sure to be rockin’! |

Susan is the 2009 Bistro Award Winner for Outstanding Vocalist. She combines a cheerful mezzo and a solid sense of jazz swing with a great regard for a lyric.
She has worked for years with her own jazz trio and fronted many top 40 cover bands and sung every 30’s and 40’s song ever written with quality Big Bands.

Barry Kleinbort, noted cabaret director, composer, and lyricist will lead a performance workshop demonstrating the transition of songs from their traditional format to the personal and customized styling of the cabaret genre. Guest performers will include Sara Zahn, Anita Darian, Tedd Firth, Christopher Denny, and Susan James.

Sara Zahn performs her cabaret show "Young at Heart" accompanied by Christopher Denny. “Young at Heart” is both a love letter to enduring classics from the Great American Songbook as well as a glimpse into the extraordinary gifts of one its finest practitioners and least appreciated female lyricists of the Twentieth Century, Carolyn Leigh.

TWILIGHT
FESTIVAL: CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
This festival and concert will bring together hundreds
of artists and members of the community in a celebratory
experience “under the stars”, highlighted
by a tribute to Long Beach’s Centennial “From
Sandbar to City”. This event will also host
artists’ booths displaying visual works and
handmade crafts. A pre-concert program will
include performances for the whole family as well
as special arts activities for children.
Performances on the MainStage include the Long Beach
Concert Band conducted by Alex Marks, The New York
Exceptions (a doo-wop group), The Eduardo Acosta Trio
(a Latin jazz band), Flute Sweets & Tickletoons
(storytheatre), the Evangel Revival Community Church
Ensemble (gospel choir), Rinaldo Toglia (Italian tenor),
the Irish DJ Tony Fallon, Swingtime Entertainment (Buddy
Holly tribute) and swing dancing demos and lessons,
Circulo De La Hispanidad Flamenco Dancers, Renaissance
School for Children music program, Cantor David Katz,
Soprano Anita Darian, Long Beach Historian Roberta
Fiore, Tribal Wind Arts (Native American flute music),
MC Robert James
All performances are free to the public, in a park-like
setting, with convenient local eateries and ample near-by
parking. Lawn chairs are recommended, and the event
will be held rain or shine
